Before you sign up for classes, here is what you need to know…
Throwing 1- Intro to Wheel Throwing
This is an 8-week course where students learn all the foundational skills needed to get started on the wheel. The first few weeks are especially important for building technique, and to respect the flow of the class and the instructor’s guidance, attendance during these early sessions is mandatory. These initial lessons are very step-by-step and hands-on, so it’s essential that students are present and able to attend consistently.
Before registering, please take a moment to review our studio policies on refunds, cancellations, and absences to ensure this class is the right fit for your schedule. We do our best to accommodate everyone, and we understand that things can come up. If you know you’ll have a planned absence, we ask that it fall in the later half of the 8-week session whenever possible.
Before class:
Clay is messy! Please come wearing proper attire—smocks are highly recommended.
About fingernails:
Long nails will get in the way and can make learning to throw much more challenging (we say this from experience!). To give yourself the best start, we ask all beginners to come with trimmed nails for at least the first 8 weeks. You’ve got to learn the rules before you break ’em!
As always, thank you so much for considering joining our studio and community. We look forward to welcoming new students into our space!
Hand building 1 - Intro to Hand building
Please note: Hand Building classes are priced differently from Wheel Throwing classes, and they do not run on fixed “sessions.” These classes are part of our ALL LEVELS offerings, which means you can begin at any time as long as there is an available seat. The studio will track your 8 weeks from the day you start.
Just like in Throwing 1, we ask Hand Building 1 students to follow our attendance policies and avoid missing the first few weeks. Early absences can cause students to fall behind, and unfinished work may dry out during that time—resulting in lost progress.
Before class: Please wear appropriate clothing—clay gets messy!
Hand building opens the door to exploring all areas of ceramics. Students may create functional pieces, sculptural work, or a mix of both. Our instructors will provide project ideas and guided lessons, but we also love when students bring their own inspirations or examples of what excites them.
